Pop Up Trailer Roof Repair

When we purchased our 1993 pop up camper i knew there was water damage to the roof.

We figured out how to fix it by removing all of the water damaged wood and then rebuilding the roof structure and reattaching the aluminum skin. It is more rigid than epdm and has a shiny appearance. Apply the goo to the cracks in your pop up roof. We basically approached this roof rebuild like a puzzle.

The idea was good no seams for water to leak in etc but in reality the abs roof didn t hold up on most trailers. The material will dry very quickly so be sure to work as fast as possible. Well in the mid 90 s coleman had this fantastic idea to make a one piece abs plastic roof on some of their higher end pop up trailers. These ceiling tiles are lightweight and easy to apply and will instantly update the look of your rv or camper ceiling.

We are pretty familiar with coleman pop up campers but this rockwood was a whole new ball game for us. In case there are substantial damages fill the holes with roof patching tar and cover them with fiberglass tape. The sealing process of a leaky fiberglass roof is not too different from its rubber counterpart. Apply additional layers of tar and sealant on top of the tape to finish the process.

Wipe up any spills or drips with an old rag so that the goo doesn t do. Now up until this point all of our hands on pop up camper experience has been with our coleman camper. You won t even need to spend tons of money on repairing it either. Not to worry about the steps and procedure as it doesn t require expert skill or knowledge.

What i didn t know however was how extensive the damage actually was. Everguard tpo rubber roofing looks more like plastic than rubber. Use a self leveling sealant such as dyco flow seal caulk to seal roof joints.
