Punto Door Handle Sticking

Once the door is open try to actuate the door latch with the handle.

Give the lock two or three squirts to lubricate. The hold open washer sometimes binds causing the door to remain partially open. The door card can then be lifted out. The handle or knob must be jiggled to unstick the latch.

You then have to carefully remove the foam liner. The only thing left connecting the cover to the door should be the 2 rods connecting the interior handle to the locking mechanism and the exterior handle. Open the door and squirt graphite powder into the key lock. Just replaced a passenger external door handle on an 04 2 door punto.

Rear passenger door gets stuck. More force is needed to turn the knob and unstick the latch. Turn the handle of the doorknob to expose the bolt. You should first test the door latch to ensure the latch is sticking inside the door and not due to a misaligned strike plate.

Rear passenger door gets stuck and won t open from the outside. The door latch is not extended before rotating the knob. Fiat grande punto xxxxx xxxxx door gets stuck and wont. Turn the knob to open the door and release the knob slowly.

The speaker grill has to come off followed by the speaker3 pozi screws then the door pull 3 torx screws then the 5screws along the bottom of the door card and up the side. Door handle won t latch step 1 check to be sure the closer is pulling the door. A sticking door latch might require some lubrication or it might be jamming against the strike plate on the door jamb. Squirt the bolt with graphite powder. The knob will not turn to retract the stuck door latch.
