Homeowners can decide to install a secure deadbolt on their sliding glass door if the door frame allows for one or you can install sliding door loop locks that make it even harder for your sliding glass door lock to be bypassed.

Lift the lower housing until slide bolt makes contact with upper track.
Mark all three screw hole locations and drill thru one metal surface using a 1 8 drill bit.
Install the deadbolt lock about 44 inches above the bottom of the door.
Secure the top screw only and be sure that the lock body is vertical to the door.
You ll have to adjust the position a bit if you have a combination storm door so as not to interfere with the storm doorknob or lock.
Mark and drill with a 3 8 drill bit.

Remove the screws securing the lock s keeper plate with a phillips head screwdriver.
Drill out any holes necessary for the lock securing screws in the same way.
This is a great idea because it strengthens the security on an otherwise weak area of the home.
Drill the hole out until the lock fits inside.
